[IBC] Cottonseed

Hi to all,

I am completely desespered! I am from Canada and I cannot find anywhere
cottonseed to make cake fertilizer. Does anyone knows where I can find
someone who will ship me this to Quebec, Canada?

Or any other suggestion?

I want to grow my trees (pines, juniper...) into a non-organic soil, put
some cake on it and fertilize with fish fertilizer once a week.

All we can find here is grey pellets 13-13-13. will it make the same than
cake?

Thank you,

Michel Bourgeois

Almost any ground seed -- rapeseed, soy, etc. -- will do
as well. But for the life of me I can't understand why
anyone would want to go to the trouble. Cakes are NO better
(or worse) than any other fertilizer. If for some reason
you _must_ go all-organic, use your fish emulsion regularly,
and occasionally (monthly) add something like MiracleGro
that has the trace elements that fish emulsion (or cakes)
does not have, and grow fine, healthy bonsai.

Mon Ami:

If you can find rape seed, this will work quite well.

Well . . . If Michel is using something like Akadama, which has a low cation exchange ratio, the presence of organic matter, such as cakes, works quite well.

Cordially,

Michael

Michel:

Canola is a cultivar of Rapeseed: yes, it is what you need, but it needs to
be ground into a powder for mixing. You should be able to purchase it in
that form.

However, since you are referring to my recipe, consider buying the
cottonseed meal from the following source:

It's getting worst on worst! I am French, as Michael guessed, and I didn't
know what rapeseed was. When I look on dictionary for "rape" you understand
my surprise... I am quite sure!!! But I found this on the net:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Canola.jpg

Is this what I need? I put seeds like it in the recipe!!! Geee! I thought
cottonseed was like popcorn texture... I didn't know I was suppose tu use
"real intact" seed! I am impressed by all of this!

Thank you Michael and it was your recipe I found on the net.

neither did I
so I used common grains
but you can use nustard seed meal , but has to
be watered and than left to ferment few months
will stink like hell..
