[IBC] How to remove glued on pebbles?

after the tree dies just snap it off and break the mass of pebbles in
two and scrape them off.
I got two nice little pots this way at a garage sale. I snapped the
dead junipers off and threw them in their trash.

A bit of soaking and a scrub down with a teflon pad freed the pot of
its pebble shroud. Rootball went in compost and voila, two shohin
sized pots.

Rather than iggglebix's drastic suggestions, I suggest you give this a
try.....

Believe it or not, this is exactly how I got hooked.
My children bought me a J. Procombens Nana four years ago at Wall-Mart,
which was nothing more than a little juniper branch stuck in a pot with
pebbles glued on the surface.
I removed the pebbles by tapping on them with a screwdriver, and prying the
entire mess loose with a screwdriver. I then replaced the surface with
common potting soil.
Believe it or not, it survived !! Four years later looks rather healthy.
In the spring of year three, I washed the roots off with a garden hose and
repotted it into bonsai soil.

I'm now into my fourth year, and like most bonsai newbie's, I've got far too
many "potensai", most as a result of classes at Jim Doyle's place (Natures
Way).
