An online place that is. Here in the city the prices
are very inflated as you can imagine.

For shallow, you usually have to cut one of the plastic pots
down. However, the azalea pots are fairly shallow.

Right that makes sense get like a 4 gallon and cut
them in half.

But some of the online stores are saying an 8 inch by
8 inch round pot is two gallons and with that formla i
get something around 1.75 gallons. So im figuring i
must have the formula wrong....

That's close enough for horticultural folks.

"One gallon" pots (and up) vary considerably in size from make to
maker.

They round off liberally. ;-)

How do you calculate the volume of a round container.
I should know this so im feeling a little stupid.

I think the formula is V=Pie r "squared" times the
height

Your formula is correct (excluding whatever unit conversion you
used to convert from cubic inches to gallons). I can only guess
that nurseries use smaller gallons than the rest of us ;-)

Jim since you set me on the right track check out these pots I found called

Interesting page. Thanks.
However, the pan pots are kinda small (even for me) if you are
trying to grow trunks.

National Polymers will ship you 25, 12 inch bulb pans which are 6
inches deep for about $2 each. They also have 10 inch, 5 inches deep for
about the same price with 50 in a case. UPS in less than a week.
