[IBC] Ming Aralia as Bonsai

It propogates easily. Although there is random die
back on them ive experienced. Just stick it in some
sand or your favorite rooting formula and they should
take off easily. Mine is not done a bonsai though
just a large tree. Don't over water them mine
actually likes to be stressed between waterings. And
once you have them used to a light they don't like to
be moved.

A neighbor has given me a big old Ming with lots of big twisty trunks.
I was thinking it might be nice in a grove planting with some Ficus. I
need advice on propagating it.

Some people have strong feelings about "mixed" groves and I think Aralia
prefers to be dryer than Ficus. But, Aralia will root easily from cuttings
in warm weather. I would treat with rooting compound (Rootone) and stick in
vermiculite (larger particles, not the dusty stuff) I would give it as much
sun as possible while protecting from heavy rains that can wash the
vermiculite and dislodge the cuttings.
