[IBC] Newbie w/ a Ficus

You did not say in what zone/city you live in. Are you training this
Ficus indoors or out? What kind of Ficus do you have?

Ficus, in genera, l like to have their soil almost dry before
watering.... I will be glad to send you short paragraphs on watering and
the use of the Persian Pick to help in learning how to water.

Who told you you couldn't prune in the spring? Many bonsai ought to be
pruned in the spring. Ficus can be pruned pretty much any time.

You could buy the Sunset "Bonsai" book, which is good and inexpensive, and,
if you're going to do indoor bonsai, Paul Lesneiwitz's (spelling
approximate; help, somebody)) "Indoor bonsai".

Ohferpetesssake! The book is inexpensive to start with, even
new. You're likely to pay more at an auction site than the books
cost new. Go to www.abebooks.com and search for "indoor bonsai"
and you'll probably find a used copy for $5.00. And it will get
to you MUCH faster. You can get it in English or German (and
probably other languages, too).
