[IBC] black pine
 

hi heat to all you ladies and gentlemen...
damn louisiana is hotter than hawaii...

ok
i know black pine is dreadedly difficult...
but
i love it
and i love the challenge...
its like a test of what i don't know
but...
i'd like to know

is the basic idea of the candles and the old
pines kinda like a sago palm? the old ones
pull off and the candle develops...to make
a 'branch'...and if you leave the old pines on
then it thickens up the stemmy part...then you
pull it off?

my husband picked up a black pine
for me while he side-tripped to the
bonsai store sneaking away from work...
i asked for an itty bitty one
i got one that is 3 ft. tall...
not much treeness to the trunk
and i'm not seeing the tree in it...
i am more or less guessing that
it will be an experiment in the theory of
how a black pine grows...

any suggestions?

before you answer...consider...
1. i have looked at john naka's books...
both great for black pine...if you have one
that has some kinda tree hiding in the growth
already...

2. i have poured over bonsai today books
drooling at the great kimura specimens and
the awesome trees that are trees of black pine...

3. i have not seen a 'clip and grow guide black pine'
anywhere ... or i would sop it up immediately...
