[IBC] Tiny Red Bugs ??
Hi all;
I put a number of my Shimpaku and Mugo on a white table today and a few hours later I noticed a bunch (not many) tiny (real tiny) red bugs dashing about wildly. When I squished them I was left with a bright red dot. Any ideas what these tiny red critters are, and if I should panic ?? TIA Mark Hill - Harrisburg PA - Zone 6 PS .... I also have a collection of ficus and elms in the same area (and a TON of garden plants) ************************************************** ****************************** ++++Sponsored, in part, by Mike Page ++++ ************************************************** ****************************** -- The IBC HOME PAGE & FAQ: http://www.internetbonsaiclub.org/ -- +++++ Questions? They are good bugs they are a type of spider mite
predator. They eat bad spider mites. They are no danger to your plants. I just started to notice mine since i put in ceder bonsai benches, they love my red ceder benches. I see them running about and smile because they keep my trees safe . I actually introduce a few hundred new ones each spring they really do help in reduction of bad mites. We get this question every year without fail. They are clover mites. They are harmless to plants. If they annoy you get a pesticide at the garden store which specifically mentions clover mites (they are not insects & they are not spider mites).
