Red soil
Few months ago I read in a french bonsai site about Lutite a sort of
earth is made with sandstone and clay is compressed and shreds easily They found it in the Region of Montpellier and are trying to use it with good results as ersatz of Akadama as too expensive , Lutite exists all over the world Canada Greenland colombia austarlia japan and so on anyway and I found geological studies made on its composition in the USA This Lutite soil is normally magenta red ,and has a tendency to keep moist and is better if added with sand to enhance drainage I found this site with differents pics of the soil but is in japanese :-) www.herbenjoy.com/ garden/point1.htm it could be the next gold rush as is a mineral that is found also as matrix for emeralds in Colombia and others minor precious stones like garnets I posted here just in case some has some at hand and can give a try to experiment it or supply more info from the Japanese written page Thanks Theo * Think like an Alien &discovery your own planet* |
