:) so i was out getting ready to water today. Running
a bit late i was putting down a few quick fertilizer
cakes on trees. About an inch away form placing some
on an azlea, i took a big jump backwards. There was
this big about 1.5 inch wolly bug attached to my
tree......... Looked similar to those see through
carcases you see on trees in the fall "size and shape
wise". Anyway so i got my tweezers and snatched it
up. It was very very soft and squishy but i managed
to not kill it. It has dark underskin with allot of
white hairs on the outside making it look like fur.
It has a dark raised spot on its head. ITs wings have
slight gray striping on them but are only about 3/4
the length of its body. It has hairy long white front
legs also. Gives me the shivers. I have it trapped
in a bottle right now as im not sure if its a good bug
or a bad one...... As far as i can see there are no
eggs and no damage done to my tree. What could this
mystery bug be.

Ben

Could it be a newly emerged cicada?

Ben,
Considering your recent trials and tribulations I think you need to run (not
walk) out and get yourself a field guide for -bug- identification. LOL.

Nope definitely not a cicida. But i haven't seen any
more of them. So im not worried about it. It was a
cute moth but i disposed of it just to be safe.
