Michael,

thank you very much for replying and your generous
offer.I will need about three more years before I can
send you an image of anything that I believe would be
worth your time.[this idea seems to need a size above
15",a bit out of my realm.]

Though this is an aspect I have been aware of for a
few years,I can't quite translate it onto a tree.Especially
since I use the clip and grow technique,which even with
fast growing trees/shrubs,is a slower technique than
wiring,but I prefer the results with Lingnan.

As you might have read I don't subscribe to Bonsai Today
so I have never seen the article on Panther and I guess
it's time to take another trip to your site.

I had hoped there would have been more responses from
the group,but perhaps it's too soon to try and discuss
this concept.

*A friend is attempting to digitally capture my few bonsai
on CD for his 5 year project of change in Bonsai/Tree Penjing
if any look professional enough I will send the images to
the Gallery and let you know.

Strangely enough I prefer to either sit and draw the tree
or use a normal photograph[for the flat image]to plan out
the design.I can't do anything with a digital image on a screen.
Maybe as a print,yes, this seems to be more useful.

I believe your perception is correct.

A current example is my Panther that recently appeared in Bonsai Today
(89). The was extremely unhealthy when acquired, restored to health, and
given its basic styling. You will notice that the tree is now ready for a
major styling and refinement.

The reference is drawn because each of the large shelves will now be
converted into subelements or subclouds of growth. In a sense, many
additional sublevels will be created, the movement of the trunk will be
revealed by reducing interior foliage, and the left side of the tree will be
substantially altered to add additional movement to the tree.

This second stage will be completed this summer. If you have a tree that
warrants analysis, please send me a copy for virtual design, and I will post
it for group discussion.
