Has anyone ever successfully airlayered a Texas Ebony? Mine has a branch
I'd like to layer off that I think would have the makings of a mame or small shohin. Thanks. has a branch I'd like to layer off that I think would have the makings of a mame or small shohin. Almost all legumes layer (or grow from cuttings) easily. If it's pencil size or less, I'd do a cutting, rather than a layer. [IBC] Airlayer Texas Ebony?
Bill:
I tried! Without sucess! I left an air layer on for one year, and not even the sign of a root! :-( But you might need a different rooting hormone than the average home grown one. I have air layered the Brazilian rain tree (of the same family, I think) . I had roots in under a month! Carl L. Bill, Yes, I have and they do fine; however cuttings are not nearly so easy. They can be done, but with difficulty and never consistently. I find that a tent ( plastic baggy) is almost a necessity to guarantee any chance of success. ************************************************** ****************************** ++++Sponsored, in part, by John Quinn++++ ************************************************** ****************************** -- The IBC HOME PAGE & FAQ: http://www.internetbonsaiclub.org/ -- +++++ Questions?
