[IBC] Old Olives
 

A neighbour just came around and asked me if I'd be interested in
helping him remove parts of an old olive grove from a property that he's
just bought on the Costa Blanca in Spain. This in exchange for a 3000
mile drive (round trip), carrying his furniture out in a big van.

Does anyone have experience of moving big Olive stumps. I've read that
even old ones will re-establish from a stump with very little fibrous
root. What is the best time of year to do this? I'm guessing that I've
missed this year's window of opportunity but hopeful that there may be a
chance of success with a late move. If not I'll have to convince him to
leave some in-situ for collection next year.

Ha says that there are self sown thin ones, right up to monsters that
are probably hundreds of years old in the patch where a new road is
going in.

I'm off to check out the regulations on MAFF's site.
