[IBC] Ceramic Pots 1a
Good Day to all,
Lynn, thanks for the e-mail,but I fear I have just made it worse.I have already received 1 e-mail asking for clarification in some areas, and 1 from someone who does science, with a tighter use of a word. I was afraid this would happen. So as my final, final word on the subject.Could I suggest everyone visit a pottery and have a chat. Your hands? Still able to paint and plant I hope? Lastly,as you may not have realised,I build by coils on a Amaco no.5,banding wheel, using my fingers at the base of the wheel to rapidly turn the object on the wheel head. With a small serrated knife to obliterate the coils. I never really learned to throw as I found this technique [I read about the Mayans doing this] to be very satisfying. I have a few mame' in pots I made like this.I call them 15 minute pots.7 minutes to build. 3 minutes to dry in the test kiln and 5 minutes to fire to 980 deg.c orton small cone 08,all in one go. It's the fact that the mix is very low clay and able to dry rapidly that allows me to do this. They are also vitreous. Until later, Always a joy to hear from you. I'm glad to hear you stay at it. I still spend a lot of time with potter friends and don't miss a firing, but as for the clay throwing my hands took me out of that except for the occasional small raku. It is great that we have some very fine potters in IBC. ------ ************************************************** ****************************** ++++Sponsored, in part, by John Quinn++++ ************************************************** ****************************** -- The IBC HOME PAGE & FAQ: http://www.internetbonsaiclub.org/ -- +++++ Questions?
