[IBC] Seperating Thread Graft

I have a thread graft for an elm. The branch diameter of the exiting
portion is more than double the size of the drilled hole. Is it a near
certainty that the graft has taken?

Thanks,

JIm

Jim:

It sounds like it took to me. How long has the thread graft been in play?

Thread grafts with pine are not easy. I developed a technique with
short length of plastic soda straw that I slit lengthwise and slipped
over an immature candle and a few leaves. With the straw cut, I'm
able to collapse it, fold the needles in and thread the graft through
the smallest possible channel. On the other side, the straw is removed
and the needles spring back out.

Regards,

Matt
