[IBC] Thick Trunks and Potassium
Hi All
Is it true that frequent use of a high potassium fertiliser results in a thick trunk? thanks ss Not per se. Potassium is essential for transport of sugars and for starch formation. Leaves need potassium in order for stomates to open and close. Potassium improves a plant's ability to resist disease and cold, and helps flower formation. Granted, a plant with sufficient NP and K will be less spindly than one that is deficient in any macronutrient. -- Nina Shishkoff Riverhead, NY ************************************************** ****************************** ++++Sponsored, in part, by Jerry Meislik++++ ************************************************** ****************************** -- The IBC HOME PAGE & FAQ: http://www.internetbonsaiclub.org/ -- +++++ Questions? [IBC] Thick Trunks and Potassium
Hi All
Is it true that frequent use of a high potassium fertiliser results in a thick trunk? It works best when the trees are growing in the field. ;-) Jim Lewis - - Tallahassee, FL - Our life is frittered away by detail . . . . Simplify!
