Roberto:

Roots grow where water, minerals, and oxygen are found. Compaction of the soil is one of the greatest problems confronting the bonsai practitioner. (Compaction is the reduction in air pockets resulting from soil particles being packed together.)

Soil compaction restricts water and oxygen uptake by the roots.

Turface MVP does not breakdown as quickly as the older Turface product, and this should minimize soil compaction problems.
