Hi everyone,
Background: I've been on the list for a while, but I don't think I've ever posted. Tonight I find myself in a situation. Relative to most people on this list, I am quite the newbie and I am trying cold stratification for the first time. I put 5 Chinese Elm seeds in a ziploc baggie, with some moist soil in my veggie compartment of my fridge 60 days ago. I have been *dying* to take them out. Tonight, I open the bags like it was Christmas day and *I CAN'T FIND MY SEEDS!!* due to being mixed in with all the bits of bark and soil. Actual question: Do the seeds change while going through cold stratification? (i.e. size, texture) Would the seeds disintegrate like a piece of wet bark if rubbed gently between the fingers? -------------------------------------- Jack Haines Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCDA, Sair Linux LCP jack [at] networkgod [dot] net -------------------------------------- ************************************************** ****************************** ++++Sponsored, in part, by Boon Manakitivipart++++ ************************************************** ****************************** -- The IBC HOME PAGE & FAQ: http://www.internetbonsaiclub.org/ -- +++++ Questions? Actual question: Do the seeds change while going through cold stratification? (i.e. size, texture) Well, if they were allowed to dry too much it is possible they would break down or too wet and they would rot. Would the seeds disintegrate like a piece of wet bark if rubbed gently between the fingers? If either of the above happened, Yes.
