Zelkova Concern

Hi group,

Long time lurker, occasional whiner..
but i got a worry, hopefully someone can help,

After a fairly decent summer season for my trees, I brought them all in at
the tail end of september, my 14 yr old Zelkova (grey bark elm?) had an
especially decent time of it.

however, about a month ago, i found a really decent hive/collection of small
clear mites nesting in its pot. as it turns out, they were enthusiastically
burrowing deep into the roots.

anywho - long story-shortish, I performed an emergency re-pot..
now .. up until a few days ago, the tree was loving it, Loads of new
rowth -but almost within the last week, the remainder of the summer growth
has just dropped.. leaving the last month's new growth on its own. The new
limbs aren't drying, or brown at all.. very fresh-looking.

I'm keeping the soil moist, and not feeding due to the new soil.
the tree's in a not too sunny but bright spot, in the 8-ish hours of
daylight we're getting in england now..

i've had this tree for almost 3 years now.. and is maintained along with 3
others, a serissa, a citrus, and a juniper. I only write because I've never
seen it shed growth so empatically..

any advice/pointers would be warmly received..

many thanks.

nick.

PS - i got a spam thing on the return email address, so please reply to
group :) - thanks again.
