Mystery book and Interesting bit of history...

I've been enjoying looking through the books I've been cataloging for
sale by our club. There's one I haven't been able to learn much about,
although friend in Japan translated a photo of the cover sheet as -- How
to Create Bonsai and How to Enjoy Bonsai. I suspect it may be by Kenji
Murata because it has the same inscription as in copies of "Bonsai:
Photographs of Now Famous Miniature"

On page 233 I found this historic list that I thought others might find
interesting...

Included in this list was Jerald Stowell of Greater NY. Actually, he was
the first president of that club. At that time Long Island BS was a chapter
of Greater NY. In later years, Long Island became independent and GNY
established a new Long Island chapter in Farmingdale. Other clubs,
including three in New Jersey, and two in Connecticut and one in Brooklyn
were started with a nucleus of GNY members. Yugi Yoshimura was a driving
force in the original GNYBS.

Yoshimura didn't come to the Yama Ki Bonsai Society, which consists of people mostly
in Westchester County (except for me and a few others) until the 80's I think but I'm
not sure. I wonder if the founding members of Yama Ki (1974) were originally members
of the GNYBS.

Yoshimura was one of the original founding members of the Yamaki Bonsai
Society. Most of the original members were also members of the Bonsai
Society of Greater New York, including Jerry Meyers, who was the
"founder" of Yamaki and also a past president of the Bonsai Society of
Greater New York.
