[IBC] Error Message
A seed is the haploid stage now completely tiny and packaged so it never
has to live on its own. A normal seed, in all of the flowering plants (spermatophytes), is a diploid, with an equal number of chromosomes from each parent. An ovule, an unfertilized "egg," is haploid, as is a pollen cell. Not sure what you mean by living on its own. Some seeds, when removed from the plant or fruit, survive for long periods before germinating.
