Huskless pumpkin seeds
 

I remember seeing a variety of pumpkin that has no husk/shell on the
seeds.
I want to try growing some next year, but I cannot find the seeds
available
anywhere. Does anyone know a store or website that carries them? Or
the
name of the variety of pumpkin that has huskless seeds?

If you have ever grown these pumpkins yourself, would you recommend
them?
Do they grow well and produce lots of pumpkins? Are they good for
cooking?
Do they make good jack-o-laterns?

"Lady Godiva" was maybe the first I heard of (and tried). But it doesn't make
a good Jack o'lantern and the flesh isn't particularly good, either.

"Triple Treat" was better for carving or cooking, but the seeds were not
entirely hull-less. Grew it for two years (one packet) and never ordered
it again.

I also tried growing "Kakai" but had consistant germination troubles.
(The naked seeds are fragile and prone to damage in shipping and handling
and due to pests and rot after planting.) I think they might be selling
a treated version of the seed these days, which might boost the chances
of germination. Don't know how these are for cooking, as I never got
any to harvest. The mature pumpkin has green stripes but might still
make an interesting jack o'lantern, based on the pictures.

If you have ever grown these pumpkins yourself, would you recommend
them?

I wasn't much impressed with the ones I tried (though the idea of pepitas
with no hulls *is* attractive).
