What an idiotic site to fail to take in consideration that desert
regions get less rainfall than tropical regions.

On understanding drought Vs. aridity.

" Drought is a temporary aberration; it differs from aridity, which is
restricted to low rainfall regions and is a permanent feature of
climate."

Huh? What are you referring to?

I looked up arizona which is having normal rainfall. The idiotic site
reported that phoenix is in a severe draught. It is only a draught if
you think phoenix gets the same amount of rainfall as new england.
It doesn't. It's the ****ing desert. 12 inches a year is normal and
12 inches in a year isn't a severe draught.

No reason to go "vulgate on us".

The problem apparently was in the making for a long time. This article
is from Mar. 2008 but still seems to address the question as to why
after two years of above avg. rainfall, Phoenix is still in a drought.

"The wet winter has definitely been a bonanza for us. But the Southwest
in general, and Arizona in particular, has been in deficit for many
years. Naturally, it will take many winters like this one to get us back
into balance."

committee

Relax, we are just gardeners here.
