:-) I understand completely.

Apart from it's herbal value, I wanted to try it just to see what it
looks like. There wasn't a good enough picture online. I don't know why
people think that too small pictures or photos taken from a distance are
at all useful. ...None of the descriptions I read mentioned thorns or
two-tone green alien fruit.

In India, it grows as a weed. I'll vouch for it being a tough enough
survivor and it's a hardy enough annual to withstand some frost. One of
the plants took a small handful of fur out of a raccoon later on in the
season.
