Default It's "lock-all-doors" time of the year again

Yes, the zucchinis are ripening. Mine are in plain view, yet I am just
staying ahead of them (so I think). Three days in a row, 15" zukes have
surprised me. Yet my smugness is just the cucurbit's way of lulling me
into complacency, and a false sense of security, while the crook necks,
in their villainy, plot, unobserved. Soon I'll be the pariah of the
neighborhood, as I walk the streets with my heavy load of green, and
yellow logs, searching for the unlocked car door, or the unobserved
porch. And then it's run-a-way, run-a-way.

In any event the exercise, and the fiber is good for me ;O)

Yeah, I know, too much information.

Wow. That is the newspaper I read for about 30 years. Many of the
names were very familiar. Nostalgia.

Wishing I wuz a neighbor......we are the only people on the face of
this earth who cannot get a decent crop from Zukes, and we love them.
Dunno what we could be doing wrong, all other crops do fine. This year
we didn't even plant any.
Sniff, sniff ~~~ :~(.

Last year, we tried to interplant the zukes with the tomatoes (tall and
short), and it was a freakin' disaster. Year before, we planted three
squash, all in new garden soil. This year, it is 5 (so far) in
established garden soil, and they have gone bonkers. The sun flowers are
struggling to keep their heads above the squash leaves. There are 3
more, recently planted squash in new soil, and we'll see how that goes.
You must have someone, a neighbor, or relative, or co-worker you can
trade with.

pick them early and pick them often.
i eat them fresh without anything added
i like them better than cucumbers, but then
i like okra too.

haha, very funny images there, we are too open
for anyone to be able to do that, but i would welcome
neighbors who grow squash and and things other than
what we grow here.

parsley for now, and served with parmesan), and the small ones are just
going to have to wait their turn ;O)

What kind of cucumbers are you growing?

I think it goes like this (I could be wrong, Still brain shocked

"Pickling" cucumbers should be picked small 1-4 inches long and often.
If they get larger and start to form seeds inside the cucumber, it will
send a signal and the plant will die and start its life cycle over again.

"Slicing" cucumbers can get larger for slicing and dicing without the
plant going into its premature life cycle.

I prefer the "Pickling" Cucumbers.
