hello,i'm new to this forum.i've been growing squashes for the past three years,i've had moderate success with golden hubbard and butternut but how can increase productivity.i get three to four squashes per plant.cheers,lee

It is impossible to guess not knowing the conditions where you grow them.
Are they in full sun? How long is your growing season and what is the
temperature? How do you feed and water them? Do they have any insect or
fungal damage?

That's a typical yeild per plant for those winter squashes.

You can get more squash per plant with some types of small winter
squash of the species Cucurbita pepo, but with butternut (C. moschata)
and Hubbards (C. maxima) three or four is a pretty good average.

Squash vines tend to set a fruit to whatever point they can support,
then abort any further fruit in favor of maturing the fruit they have
already set. How many they set depends not only on species and
cultivar but also on growing conditions in any particular season.

From my position I'd say you are lucky to get that many. Most years I've got 0. I once got 2. This year I've actually got quite a few, but as they are all tiny and not getting bigger, it's a bit of a waste of time.
