i was rather surprised it cleared that quickly, good
thing the rain stopped for a bit.

the garden pathways were still under water for another
hour. when i was looking about 8pm the pathways were
clear and i could walk around. all that work i did on
drainage paid off. i will be able to get back out
there sooner than i expected.

we've had water across the gardens in past years
like this, but it has never gone across the road
out front nor has the west ditch flowed backwards
(from north to south).

more rain still likely, but i'm hoping it won't
be the 2+ inches the weather forecast says.

Over here, we managed to be in the 'eye' of the storm, so
to speak, and only accumulated 1.5 inches over Thursday
and Friday, most of that on Thursday.

OMG!!!! You poor thing, but even poorer plants....

compared to many people who had more flood
damage we came out pretty well. only some
moved around decorative things and pieces of
wood, a little gravel washed out at the end
of the driveway and me having to sweep up some
wood chips off the cement.

some of the tomatoes did split and i know
when i pick cherry tomatoes a lot of them will
be split too, but otherwise we came out ok.
none of the raised beds were washed out so the
crops are mostly intact.

:) nice to not have to water for a change!

however, most of the gardens here now need it
to be a little dryer to get the beans to dry in
the pods without rotting and the tomatoes to
ripen in the sun. we did pick some tomatoes
today and they were ok, with a few that had
split. not enough to can yet.

i was watching the radar during this storm and
for a change instead of us being in the middle of
either side of the storm with us being dry it
channeled a ridge of red/orange downpour right
over us for two hours. a half mile on either side
of us and it was much lighter.

the rain gauges topped out at 11 inches of rain
for the past two days.

i was happy to nap and read most of today.
tomorrow i'll be putting up beets.
