Hillbilly Garden Update

Well , the lettuce and spinach failed miserably ... and the cayennes have
yet to appear . But everything else is freakin' fantastic !!
Alright , the green beans aren't overtaking the world , and neither are
the onions . But I've got tomatoes on almost every plant , the jalapenos are
loaded , and the cukes , zukes , and acorn squash are all setting fruit .
Even the "found" potatoes are coming up . somebody left a bag of yukon
gold seed taters sitting on a trash can in the WM parking lot . THANKS !
I'm very surprised that the garden is doing this well , considering it has
never been cultivated ... or maybe that's why it's doing so well . Either
way , I will soon be enjoying Nature's Bounty from my land .

BTW , the blackberries are starting to color , as are the
blueberries OK , huckleberries out in the woods .

Bravo!

the wonders of diversity. :) that you get something
for your efforts.

onions have struggled here this year too. much
my own fault, but also that they have not gotten
much sunshine until this month. we'll eat them
anyways no matter how small they may be. we like
green onions just as much as those that have bulbed
out.

But I've got tomatoes on almost every plant , the jalapenos are

we've not got fruit on any squash or cucumbers,
but they are coming along ok. recent sunshine and
rains have helped a lot.

great!

congrats! it is a joy that is for sure...

we've been feasting on strawberries for a
while now. they are now finally getting to
the end (of this round). *whew!* now i
know i do not need to plant any more patches
of these. i hadn't any extra worms/worm poo
to add to these gardens this season and didn't
expect a very large harvest, but they came
through well enough.

yesterday we could eat the first few pea pods.

tomato plants are growing great, some flowers
are peeking out. the many varieties of beans are
mostly up and growing. only a few spots to
fill in. some weeding is needed here or there
yet overall things are in pretty good shape.

Round 1: Hornworms zero , Snag 2 . Got the little buggers before they did
much damage . I'm a bit surprised that they showed up , as much as the soil
has been tilled/disturbed . The garden is right at the edge of where I did
some semi-major earthmoving to build my shop , plus having been tilled to
prepare it for gardening .
