Hi,

I have just joined the forum and have a problem with white pests which are covering the strawberry plants in my polytunnel. I don't know if they are white fly.

Can anyone please help?
Also, what is the best way to get rid of them?

I hope the photo had uploaded ok?

Looks like white fly to me.

Easy way to tell, though...if many fly away in a swarm when the plant
is disturbed, it is probably whitefly. If they stay put, it is
probably white aphids.

Either way, it is a pain in the butt. I just squirted some Safer on a
few plants over the weekend.

Pinched nerves in the cervical vertebrae appear to be causing most of
the problems. With my right side being compromised by long ago strokes,
having another problem just makes it worse. I'm staggering when I walk
and am using the four legged cane more often. Basically it's a big PITA
and other parts too. Should be getting a call from the outfit that does
our Medicare Advantage plans rehab for old geezers and there's some
electro something or another in the picture a little further down the road.

The young doctor appears to be top notch and tortured me with pins,
needles, and a small hammer or two for about an hour. Mostly he said
"Can you feel this." And I said "ouch." He's got a good sense of humor
which is more than I can say about most doctors. I think it will come
okay in the end.

Still harvesting giant zucchini's, getting harder to find them so I'm
thinking of setting up a deer stand nearby to catch them moving. The HOA
won't let me use a firearm but I've got a pretty powerful air rifle
handy. If I survive I might write a book about "Stalking the Giant
Zucchini and Surviving."

One of them is being eviscerated this evening and stuffed with pork
sausage, sweet chiles, brown rice, and lots of spices.

I cannot grow any viners down in the main garden. Groundhogs do it all
in. Haven't grown zukes in years, which is ok, because everyone who
does grow them has plenty to give away.

We've been giving away asparagus until people stopped looking us in
the eye in the neighborhood for fear we'd foist some off on 'em.

At one time, many years ago, dear wife decided we needed to raise a
bunch of Muscovy ducks. We had three hens and two drakes and the three
hens laid over a hundred eggs that we carefully saved. Let the hens
incubate a bunch each and put more in the incubator we had. All
ducklings hatched and were healthy. I started killing and cleaning and
the only way to clean a Muscovy duck is to skin it as they have lots of
pin feathers. After a bit the neighbors would lock their doors and turn
off the lights if they saw me coming down the road with a bag. We
finally ate or gave away every duck including the parents and we and our
neighbors were all happy. Do you know how much ducks poop every day?
It's astonishing, but we managed to shovel it all into the compost heap
and darned near set it on fire. No ducks for the last 45 years and never
again.

We found another one, even bigger. I need to get more sausage and cook
some more brown rice. Crowder peas are trying to bloom and the green
beans, since we hit them with some bloom encourager, are blooming like
crazy. The green tomatoes are finally ripening and we've managed to get
rid of all the stink bugs. Something came in and ate most of them, must
have been a night critter because we didn't see it or them. I knew ducks
and chickens would eat them but we have neither of those.

We've been a few days now without rain after getting more than 12 inches
in a month. It feels strange and now the AC is running again.

It works for stud bulls, you won't need such a large bucket though.

Thank you David, my stud days are long gone. Been married to the same
woman for 56 years. I needed the laugh too. G
