The Truth about Bush Beans
don't listen when they tell you that they will only produce for a short time...it ain't true. people see them turning color a bit and think the plant is finished..It's NOT! for best and continuous harvest you must use an innoculant when you start the seeds. this will radically cut down on fertilizer needs ( as in none) and get you vigorous plants. these bacteria also enrich the soil. after the first few harvests, when the plant is looking a bit yellow, you need to support it with increased watering and a little bit ( and i mean just a little) of fertilizer. if you stick to this regimen...you will have your bean plants producing continuously throughout the growing season and not just in spring, very much like pole varieties. i'm still eating the pounds of frozen beans grown last year. |
