I didn't check the edition or printing date of the pdf but, IIRC, that title underwent several revisions before going out of print. May be a modern reprint but is not marked as such on the list. I'd have acuired and read it during the early 1970s. The 1868 edition may be read online or downloaded in several formats he http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/item/75144#page/8/mode/1up. i'll check it out sometime thanks. Solomon's list he http://soilandhealth.org/agricultural-library-sort-by-author/ did you note that is the same website i reference above? offers (what I think is) some great reading for long winter nights. A few classics are on it but, as usual, one must be careful to differentiate among religion (bet _me_ "organic", "transitioning" and "sustainable" this, that, and the-other isn't religion), supposition, and empiricism. of course, i always enjoy nosing through old gardening books because they often include bits of current cultural references. i'm not a fond of the word "organic" but simple and natural methods have worked well for me. my past training in empiracle sciences (along with the history of science and the philosophy of science) doesn't let me ignore actual results. i'm also glad to see my past efforts paying off. i sure didn't have to work as hard this season and the larger garden areas i had were nice. songbird |
