Asparagus and raspberries..will they coexist?
Hello there, and thank you for reading my post. I have a very nice asparagus
patch, producing nearly 5lbs of nice spears per week. I am having trouble keeping the raspberries from overgorwing it though, so as I was thinking how to better control the raspberries, I thought maybe I could let the raspberries just grow with the asparagus, and mulch them both in the fall with a good broken down compost mulch to help with weed control, therefore I could enjoy the raspberries as well as the asparagus. Is this a good idea? or will it not work. any and all ideas are appreciated. Thanks--Scott |

Where are the raspberries coming from? Did you plant the parent plants or a
neighbor? If you want raspberries and have room, I would dig them up as they emerge, and plant them into a pot until transplanting time, and then put them in a row in an area you can easily mow both sides. Then I would cut off a few above the ground and paint full strength weed killer on the open end to see if I couldnt kill the entire system. If you let them grow, it will just be a matter of time before they take over your asparagus bed. Good luck. Dwayne "Scott" wrote in message ... Hello there, and thank you for reading my post.
