Can I pot up a couple of swords that my three 'grubing' goldfish keep
up rooting from the gravel? The tank is a 29 gallon one with a UGF and
a Whisper 40 hang-on. Plants were stuck in the gravel without any clay
which I understand is only one of my mistakes.

Sure. Find some attractive plastic or clay pots of maybe 3" to 4" size
depending on the eventual size of the swordplant and fill them with
well-rinsed Flourite or some other suitable potting medium. You might
want to put some fairly large pebbles over the Flourite to keep the
goldfish from digging in it.

Thanks, Elaine. I've covered the tops of the pots with 1-1.5 inch
pebbles. Considered barbed-wire for a brief time.

As I placed the pots, I discoverd that a sturdy rubber-nosed plecostums
had survived the green water etc and was hiding out under the lava and
geodes. Hadn't seen him in months.

Barbed wire! ROFLMAO. Just try keeping plants safe from koi if you
think goldies are tough.

It's nice to find lost fish. I had an oto I thought was dead come out
of hiding in the huge clump of baby's tears in my 10gal guppy tank when
I added 3 more. He just wanted buddies I guess.
