Planted Tank Focus Group
Ladies and Gentlemen be the first to be apart of a focus group of
people to decide what kind of products, their design and price are necessary for the success of our hobby in planted aquaria. I recently started looking for products for a planted tank and realized it would cost any where from $800US to over $1200 to just purchase the necessary equipment for a successful planted aquarium. My research to date has determined two things 1.) the products we use in this pursuit have other markets that are more lucrative to the manufacturer and therefore none will reduce their prices for our market, or 2.) product application is so limited that only a few manufacturers (less than 5) actually make the product, therefore they can charge any amount they desire. With that in mind and to get the discussion going I am proposing the below list of products along with those I propose to market. What I need from you is your input as to the applicability of such a product, what characteristics you would like in the product, and what price you would be willing to pay for such a product in cash and on credit. If there are other products your believe that should be of benefit that are currently very expensive and or do not have the necessary design or functionality please add them So here goes: CO2 Cylinder and valve and regulator combo; 20lb tank, 0 to 7 liters/hour exhaust (In development) Features you need Features you want Most you would pay in cash Most you would pay in credit card Do you currently need a system How many CO2 resistant tubing (Resell) Diffuser. Membrane type (Resell) Heater cable and controller; controller 0 to 250 watt isolated. (In development) Automation system w/ PH and temp probe. (In development) Metal halide lighting units; bulb and electronic ballast and exhaust fan. (In development) Custom made hood for lighting; made from acrylic or fiberglass. (In development) Stainless steel tank stands, made to order. Current design suggestion is industrial kitchen stainless steel look. (In development) Fracted Clay from Seachem. Flourite and/or Onyx (Resell) Add other product suggestions. I will give each product its own topic Thanks. Art |
