It gone from Bad to Worse
Hi all,
I would really appreciate any assistance that anyone can give me as I'm staggering around in the dark here and I don't know what to do... My tank was growing beautifully, my Amazon Sword sent up 2 flower stalks and flowered, I was trimming my stem plants every 2 weeks as they were getting too big and then... I then tried the Tom Barr guidelines but unfortunately my PH probe was not calibrated correctly and my Co2 levels were at 14ppm... Not what Tom Suggests at all... I had a break out of red brush algae on my sword, driftwood, aponogetons, eveything really... You all gave me your advise, which I followed... I took the Co2 levels up as per Toms advise, I am now sitting on 45ppm Co2 and things aren't getting any better... I've done a 50% water changed and all my nutrients - except Iron appear to be back in sync. However, three weeks later and I still have a cloudy tank and Red Brush Algae... My tank is like a snow storm, I can see into it, but it just a mass of fine white particles... and now most of my plants are dying... Some of them like my Limnophilla Aromatica have dead tips and the leaves are turning brown. The only thing that appears to have gotton better is my red tiger lotus... I use PMDD, but I can NEVER seem to get the Fe level above 0.0 with it. I am dosing 5ml per day on a 50gal aquarium and still, I measure everyday and nothing.... Last night, out of desperation and frustration I started adding Fe direct to tank, hoping to come home today to find some Fe measurable, but nothing... I added enough Fe to give 0.02ppm of Fe, but zero yet again. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I just feel like i'm banging my head against a brick wall... Thank you. Justin. |
