Green Algae

I have a 29g (US) planted tank which is doing quite well. However I
have noticed that some of the plants are getting Green Algae on their
leaves, especially the Java Fern. I have supplemental CO2 injected through
a diffuser, and all the water parameter look good. Is this a lighting
problem? All the plants are doing well and growing tremendously. I just
don't understand the algae.

Be glad it's the Green algae and not that black sooty looking diatom crud.
:-( I spend several hours doing a massive water change on one of my 55g
tanks today. That was after removing as much of this unsightly sooty
looking "stuff" as possible. I have no idea why it's infesting this one
tank when the other 55, set up so similarly, doesn't have it. I plan to add
another shop light to the tank and see if extra light helps before the
plants are suffocated and die.

Is it Green Dust or Green Spot? Green Dust Algae is very bright green and
wipes off easily, Green Spot Algae is darker green and does not wipe off
easily. Low Phosphates can cause GSA, what are your P04 readings? GDA you
can reduce with water changes or UV filtering after wiping it off.

A clean up crew can also work wonders, SAE or Ottos.

What's "good"? Provide your plants with adequate NPK and lighten up on
the iron. Plant more fast-growing plants too.
