I went to the store and bought Fuval Peat granular and I mix it with carbon
& zeolite granules and just waiting to see what happen if anyone knows about
it please let me know ... if is good to lower the GH or no.... I'll be make
new readings tomorrow ...

"...Peat moss softens water and reduces its hardness (GH). The most
effective way to soften water via peat is to aerate water for 1-2 weeks in a
bucket containing peat moss. For example, get a (plastic) bucket of the
appropriate size. Then, get a large quantity of peat (a gallon or more),
boil it (so that it sinks), stuff it in a pillow case, and place it in the
water bucket. Use an air pump to aerate it. In 1-2 weeks, the water will be
softer and more acidic. Use this aged water when making partial water
changes on your tank. "

I was just wondering, are you putting this mixture in your PLANTED tank?
Bec. if you are, the carbon will absorb some of the nutrience that your
plants need.

"Granular activated carbon may remove needed chelated trace elements from
the water, something we certainly want to avoid. Therefore, it is not
recommended for use on a continuous basis in a planted tank. Those who use
either peat-based substrates or quantities of driftwood may find that their
water turns yellowish or brownish. Carbon in the filter for even a few hours
can usually solve this problem quickly. It should then be removed. Carbon
can be used in the same manner to remove certain medications from the water
if (heaven forbid!) you need to medicate your planted tank for any reason."

It depends on how hard your water is to start with. I used the granular
peat, and liked it. But my water was so hard, I ended up going with the
powdered Discus Buffer stuff. I just use just enough to keep the pH down
to about 7.0.
