Default Anchoring Driftwood

I have a very nice piece of driftwood that is about 3 feet long and about 8
inches in diameter but the darned thing won't stay submerged. It's been in a
big bin with the water changed daily for about 3 weeks and has now been in
my tank for 1 week But it still floats without something weighing it down.

How long until it will sink naturally? Or should I just attach the thing to
some slate or tile? If I attach it to tile what type of screws should be
used?

Quite a while sometimes. Get a piece of slate, drill it and stick
a STAINLESS STEEL screw in there to attach it.
