hmm, checking the "Canadian association of aquarium, clubs (CAOAC ) there
doesn't appear to be one, there is the London one, Sarnia, and one listed
for Oxford county but I can't remember if that was east or west of London.

check my home club's web page for links
http://webhome.idirect.com/~jvanrompu/BAC/bacframe.htm
I think that you might find one in metro detroit.

I cannot help you with a club in Windsor, but there is a club across
the border. The club is called Greater Detroit Aquaraium Society or
GDAS (http://www.greaterdetroitaquariumsociety.com). They are a neat
group of fish enthusiats. They hold fish auctions at least once a
year. The meetings are held in Royal Oak every fourth Wednesday of
the month from 8pm to 10pm. The next meeting is January 22. Hope to
see you there Phil!

Best Regards,

Alejandro

Steve,
This is what I found from Canadian Government sites...

from (http://www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca/E/pub/cp/...tml#P240_15669)
"To protect plants and animals from pests and disease, the Canadian
Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has controls, restrictions, and
prohibitions on the entry of plants, animals, and their products,
including food. To import some of these goods you will need
certificates or permits. Many goods do not need mandatory inspection
by the CFIA, but if the goods you are importing need to be inspected,
you may have to pay a fee. In some cases, customs officers collect
fees for the CFIA.

If you plan to import agricultural, forestry, or food items,
contact one of the following CFIA Import Service Centres (ISCs) for
information before you leave. ISC staff handle all enquiries about
import requirements for all commodities regulated and inspected by the
CFIA. There are three ISCs:
Central ISC (Toronto)
Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Eastern time)
Telephone: 1-800-835-4486 (toll free from Canada and the United
States); or
(905) 612-6285 (from all other locations)
Fax: (905) 612-6280"

from (http://www.ccra-adrc.gc.ca/E/pub/cp/...tml#P240_15669)
"The National Animal Health Program is responsible for establishing
import requirements for animals and animal products coming into
Canada, including pets. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has
prepared basic guidelines for frequently imported pets. Before
importing any animal, clients should verify the conditions with a
local CFIA Office or Headquarters contact.
The pet import requirements outlined in these pages are current as of
2003-1-8."

from (http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/...rt/fishe.shtml)
"The importation of certain types of fish, such as tropical or
endangered species, may also be subject to the control of the Canadian
Wildlife Services - Convention on International Trade in Endangered
Species (CITES). You can contact Canadian Wildlife Services at
1-800-668-6767 or visit their website at: www.cws-scf.ec.gc.ca."

I could not find specific guidlines on this matter. Hope these
excerpts and webpages serve as a starting point to answer your
question.

Search for "import Canada" in "rec.aquaria.freshwater.misc" for
personal experiences.

I was wondering about bringing plants from Canada to the US. I would really
like to find a narrow leaf red rubin which is sold by tropica.
