So, where does one find a wide range of choices in CF lamps? I like options,
but I couldn't find anything locally.

General Electric makes a 9300K 55 watt CF lamp that is a triphosphor.

Its
blue-white, but it is not strictly monochromatic. It has three spikes in
the color spectrum. The composite effect is supposed to by 9300K. I
personally like the look. 10000K lamps, that you would think would look
similar, look way too blue by comparison.

I've used both, and I actually prefer the 10000K. Just a matter of

personal
taste; I like that cool, super-bright look. The GE 9300s look very "pink"

and
unnatural to me. But most people seem to like them. It's really a matter

of
personal taste.

Great folks, I use a 1x55 on my 29G aquarium. I thought a wider range of
bulb choices were being discussed.

Just trying to keep up and learn. I have what I have (I think it is 5300k)
and I expect it to last for a year or so. It is probably fine. I won't be
looking for anything more. That is unless I learn something from this list
that would lead me to believe I could expect significantly better results
with a different bulb color.

Thanks for offering though.

Can you be more specific in what you're looking for? Do you want

different
colors of 55W bulbs, or different wattages that will fit over your tank?

I assume you already have a 5000K bulb. Then I would go with the 6700K bulb
to complement it. Watch the CRI also. Make sure they are both above 80, or
your fish will look like ghosts. I have more information about light and
color on the Fluorescent Light Comparison page on my web site.

I trying to decide between another 5000k bulb or a 6700k to replace
the 8800k, which doesn't look quite right. I have a 55W and 96W CF
lights.
It's a heavily planted tank with small shoal of Boesmani Rainbows in
it, so I definitely want them to look nice as well as the plants to
grow. Any suggestions?
