Can a substrate be too deep?

How deep is it in the wild?

Substrate depth

3-4 inches is good.

I slope my gravel extensively so it goes from 1 inch in the front up
to maybe 7-10 inches in the rear.
If you plan a non CO2 tank it is a good idea to have a deeper flat
substrate.
