Default What plant is this?

(Richmond) wrote in message . com...
Is this some kind of trick question? Because the right answer is WRITTEN on
the tank in the pic! :-) Rotala macranda, just like the text there says.

Liisa

First I should admit I did not see the written markings, and that was
embarrassing.

Second I have 4 bunch of R. macranda in my tank and nothing is similar
to the one on the picture. Mine is here

Anyway Thank You

Dominic (At Work)

Sorry Dominic, but you don't have Rotala...I can't believe nobody else
caught this, but thats Sunset Hyro, Hygrophila polysperma var sunset.
Rotals mac is what is in the picture from Ricky Cain. It can be very
dark blood red, or the varigated type which is green and red. Yours is
Hygrophila. Rotala mac is difficult to grow and very
sensitive...Sunset Hygro is one of the easiest plants in the world to
grow...you practically have to stomp up and down on it to kill it.
Ricky is an old pro at growing plants and has bought a lot of plants
from me.

OK - I see it now.

I was thinking I'd not seen this form before, but I *do* seem to recall it
looking like this when I received my very first plant. So I gotta ask what
are your tank and lighting parameters?

I just trimmed mine, so there's not a lot to see right now. Give them a
couple of days and I'll post a coupke shots to alt.binaries.aquaria...

Well it doesn't look like any Rotal mac I have ever see. If its not
Sunset Hygro, it must be something else. Albany Aquarium gets their
plants from Oriental Aquarium in Singapore, and I havn't seen anything
in their catalog that looks like it. Unless he got this from some
special friend of his like his Micro Anubias nana. I have gotten
Rotala mac from Oriental, and its just like any other Rotala mac.
