Default Snails - Benifit or Pest?////Zebra Snails

I bought Zebra snails having been informed by the dealer that they won't eat
plants, only algae. Time will tell.

The dealer also said that although they lay eggs, they rarely hatch in tank
conditions. Hence their expense (£3 in London).

Anyone have any different experiences with zebras?
