Metal halide question

Hello

I've got one important question. Can I use a 150W Aqualine 10000K MH bulb
over amano style aquarium? I've got unused bulb from my sal****er aquarium
and I want to use it. Plants will be ok or not under this kind of lightning?
Isn't 150W too much for 80x35x40(height) cm tank? The lamp is 45 cm above
the tank.

TIA

M.

Wattage isn't the problem, it's the spectrum. Best for plants is between
about 5000k and 7000k. With 150w @ 10000k you will, however, grow
exceptionally lush algae.

Ok, if You say so... I will buy 5200K NH bulb. What about wattage? Is it ok,
or too much for this tank?
It will be any difficulties if I put 150W instead 70W?

TIA

Wattage should be OK. I use more watts than that, myself, but in tubes so
it's more diffuse. Note that 5200k will look a whole bunch more yellow-ish
than what you've been accustomed to in a marine tank and do not freak out
the first time you plug it in. You will get used to it and freshwater
plants look great under it.
