Default snail-eating loach/fish in planted tank

Have asked this in rec.aq.fresh.misc and r.a.m but figured asking here
would be good too.

I've a heavily planted freshwater tank, mixed community, 28US gal. Have
a pretty huge population of MTS which I like (just not this many) and
the occasional other type of snail (none of which seem to eat huge
amounts of plants, if any).

I'd like to reduce the numbers of the snails, but leave *some* MTS
around to burrow through the gravel.

Given the tank size means that clowns are probably going to be too big
(and certainly outgrow the tank very quickly) and the bioload means I
can fit probably only 2, 3 at the very most, new small fish into the
tank, can someone suggest a suitable snail-eating candidate?

Pref not ones that'll dig up the plants, they're not in baskets or
weighted down (they all seem to hate that in my tank and die!)

Existing fish range from pair of angels and pearl gourami through
cardinal tetra and harlequin rasboro to dwarf flying foxes, bristlenose
(dwarf), and an oto. Oh, and a few khuli's. And a freshwater shrimp.
Oh, and a now rather elderly but wonderfully chilled-out Betta.
