Help! My Green Algae Tank
 

Hi all,

I have a 10 gallons tank, with 7 Barb tetra. Green Algae is always a
big problem for me. It is everywhere in the tank. _ I tired many
different methods like having a couple of apple snails in my tank,
shrimps, plants or shorten the light exposure time. All of the above,
does't really work well _
Does anyone know how to solve the green algae problem?
I will be very thankful

I'd put the tank in another place with no light directly from the sun.

You can google at length to find others and their solutions... Blackout the
tank, dose with ferts of KN03, or a UV Sterilizer.... they've all got mixed
results, cuz whatever and whenever it works, they never come back to report
success or failure...

I had it once... I did large water changes, lowered the time my lights were
on, down to 10hrs daily, and stopped feeding as much... Eventually I turned
off the lights for 4 days and with several water changes, it eventually went
away....

In your case, I'd watch how much you fed, turn the lights back to maximum
8hrs, do a water change here and there, and maybe just slow down and be
patient, somethings take time to show improvement...

Do yourself a great favour and get a Bristle Nose Pleco or 2. These guys are
the Hoovers of the fish world so far as algae is concerned.
I have a dwarf Anubia, which over the months became covered in algae. I
purchased a couple of 2.5cm Bristle Nose plecos and over two days and
nights, these little dudes completey cleaned the leaves of algae.

How large do the Bristle Nose Plecos get? I have marbled Plecos, 3 in
my 75 gallon tank and they are doing fine and after 2 years are less
than 4 inches. However, I have lost several in my 10 gallon tanks.
I don't know why. All my tanks' fish get flake food. One of the 10
gallon tanks had lots of algae. I like having a variety of
scavengers, but would hate to buy more plecos for the 10 gallon tanks
and have them die or get too large.

Ive had a bristlenose for 3 years, still 2.5 inches, and a rubberlipped at
2.0 and I love 'em...

Hi guys

Thanks a lot for your advices. I will try them out and see the
results.
I feed flakes food also, and some dry blood worms. Maybe I should try
feed less amount as well.

Help! My Green Algae Tank
 

I have one adult bristlenose in a 40 gallon tank. He/ she is 3 years old and
close to maximum size, 5in / 12cm or so. They don't grow very quickly
unless you have lots of food for them = lots of algae.

They also gnaw on pieces of wood, and I've read that they should have wood
fiber in their diet to keep them healthy.
