do i need co2 filter?
i have a 125g tank i will convert into a planted aquarium. do i need a co2
filter? if i do, can you suggest a good co2 filter? there is one kind which i think just takes like a bar of carbon and doesnt need other tinkering with (forgot what it was called). is this kind good? how hard is it to install a co2 filter? |

do i need co2 filter?
There is no such thing as a CO2 "filter". CO2 is a gas and therefore
requires a pressurised CO2 cylinder, a pressure regulator, a needle valve to adjust the flow rate and some kind of device for diffusing the CO2 in the tank, like an airstone or reactor. There are other devices such as the carbo-something that does take "blocks" and uses elctricity to generate CO2 but it's not something you would want to consider for such a large tank, you would need more than one unit and the cost would be more than a real pressurised setup. The setup should cost you around $100-150 and around $10-20 each year for gas refill. Setting it up is not hard but you do need to do some homework first, getting over the fear of tinkering with a pressurised cylinder is probably the hardest aspect of it all. Hope that helps Giancarlo Podio (SJS0678) wrote in message ... i have a 125g tank i will convert into a planted aquarium. do i need a co2 filter? if i do, can you suggest a good co2 filter? there is one kind which i think just takes like a bar of carbon and doesnt need other tinkering with (forgot what it was called). is this kind good? how hard is it to install a co2 filter? |
