Hornwort Self Destruct?
 

I have 3 tanks that had fair sized colonies of hornwort. Last week, almost
like on command all three colonies just broke up into tiny pieces, as of the
plant just disintegrated. Up until that point they were doing fine for
months. In fact 2 of the three colonies were gotten from divisions of the
first one. Is this a common thing?

Did you add anything to the tank (chemicals)?

Same thing I'm wondering. I had four bunches of Cabomba where most of all
of them disentigrated as well.

Not sure if salt could have caused it as I used to put salt in my tank up
until that point.

Also a possibility that the hornwort grew quickly that there wasn't enough
light getting to the area where it split apart?

I've never had great luck with Hornwort for some reason. I can grow just
about anything else well, but I struggle with Hornwort. It's doing great in
my tank now, and that's probably because I haven't added any chemicals or
made any drastic changes. This wasn't always the case.

Typically hornwort will grow... and grow... and grow...
I would suspect the culpret is lack of nutririents.
Try doing a water change first and see if they pick back up as many
elements can be replaced with a general waterchange. If this does not
work i would add a gen fert

It's funny you mention Fertilizer. I just started doing that 2 weeks ago
could I be over feeding?
