My 'almost' hummer picture
 

I've made some fairly good hummingbird pictures over the past couple of
years but there's one thing I've never captured --- a male Anna's
Hummingbird in full feather. I've had lots in various stages of molt or
growing back, but none with the full brilliant head.

Yesterday I had a chance and blew it. Here's 'the one that got away'.

Still neat tho Pat. Last Sunday's Register had an article on "Backyard
Birds"
The photographer said to use a fast shutter speed - 1/2000 second to stop
the movement of the wings????

Actually I often do the same thing. You've seen some of my hummer pics and
most of them aren't bad. But in this case I just couldn't react fast enough
or get close enough for a decent picture. But don't worry. He's in the
neighborhood and I'm sure he'll be back and maybe I'll be ready for him when
he comes. :-)

Yes, I think few folks know just how hard it is to get a fully illuminated
gorget... EVERYTHING has to be just right... I consider it the Holy
Grail... I've gotten two or three over time, now, but it took an UNTOLD
number of attempts to get them, and even ones that are nearly fully
illuminated, but still crisp aren't easy to get...

Very rewarding, though, as I'm sure you know!!! You've done some GREAT work
here... And I always look forward to your latest images...

HAHAHAHA!

We're just back from a very wet and windy weekend in Kent - the Garden of
England. thinks - I wish I'd had the nous to take pictures of my friend's
beautiful grass garden and this picture has cheered me up no end!
