A Nikon D80, which is sort of a mid-priced DSLR. It's a little more than a
Canon Digital Rebel, which is another very good camera.

I guess I should add that I have a Nikon 70-300mm zoom lens attached and
also a Nikon SB800 Speedlight on the camera, which is mounted on a tripod.
I wait for a bird to be in range and then snap the shot. It would be
ridiculous to hand-hold the camera and try to follow the flight of one of
these guys. I've also got a little Nikon infra-red remote controller so
that I can move away from the camera and shoot from a little distance.
