I've put portulacas outside my fence now for years, this season
they've really taken off! Two pictures attached.

My mom used to plant moss roses every year...

I've not been that good about it since she died, but they are so pretty.

Very nice Ann! I usually grow it every year. If winters are mild, the
seeds that are produced in the fall (I just let them stay in the pot)
produce a lot of plants the next year. This page from my web site,
http://members.iglou.com/brosen/page14.htm shows one of the planters
that re-seeded itself.

Those are very pretty! I've actually got quite a few volunteers out
there, too, seed in from last year. Those are down the other end of
the fence, though. I do love them, and they grow so well in almost
pure sand!

How this takes me back! My Dad used to grow these in profusion in Ottawa,
but I've never had any success with them here in U.K. although I've tried
and tried. Lucky you!
